Adult Vocal Choirs

Canticle Choir

Rehearsals—Wednesdays, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m., Sanctuary (except during Lent).
                     Wednesdays, 8:00 – 9:00 p.m., Sanctuary (during Lent only)

The Canticle Choir, an ensemble of adult voices, sings anthems in a variety of musical styles accompanied by piano, various instruments or full orchestra, and a cappella. This choir assists in leading worship approximately three Sundays each month. The All Saints Candle Lighting Service and the Good Friday Tenebrae Service are special worship experiences presented by the Canticle Choir and orchestra. An ensemble from the Canticle Choir sings one Sunday each month at St. Andrew West.

Children and Youth Vocal Choirs

Live Wire
Leader—Paul Gjerke
Rehearsals—Sundays, 4:00-5:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Live Wire music participants lead our high school students, young adults and families in music during Sunday evening Live Wire Worship. Emphasis is placed on selecting quality contemporary music and providing good leadership with voice and instrumentation, including guitar, keyboard and percussion.

H.S. Choir

Rehearsals—7:00-7:45 p.m., Room 107

This particular music opportunity is for our youth in grades 9 – 12. The emphasis is on excellent choral singing using 3-5 part music. This choir rehearses weekly and participates in worship once or twice a month.

Youth Choir of St. Andrew

Rehearsals—Wednesdays 5:00 – 5:45 p.m., Room 107

All boys and girls in grades 5-8 are invited to sing with the Youth Choir of St. Andrew. The choir will learn new music and learn about music. Anthems are chosen from a fun and interesting variety of music. This ensemble will participate in worship about once a month.

Sonshine Singers

Rehearsals—Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:15 p.m., Room 105

Sonshine Singers is a youth choir for boys and girls in grades 2 - 4. Musical skills and techniques are learned and an anthem is presented in worship about once a month. The primary purpose of this choir is to strengthen the connection between music, worship and friendship.

Rainbow Singers

Rainbow Singers is a choir for children in Kindergarten and First Grade. Singers are eager and excited to sing and learn about music. This choir sings approximately once a month in the worship service.

Starlite Singers

Starlite Singers welcomes the youngest children - ages 3-5 - with a variety of activities. The main focus is to sing as well as learn of Jesus’ love for them.

This handbell choir is for adults who are intermediate to advanced ringers. We ring for worship services approximately once a month as well as for weddings and other special occasions.

The JuBELLation Choir is a special ensemble of intermediate to advanced adult ringers who are interested in a slightly less rigorous schedule while also providing excellent special music in worship and other special occasions.

Genesis Bells

This is our newest Adult Bell Choir created for the beginning bell ringer who would like to learn the technique and skill of bell ringing. This choir participates in worship approximately once each month.

Youth Bell Choirs

Joyful Noise

Rehearsals—Wednesdays 5:45 – 6:30 p.m., Music Room

Joyful Noise is a beginning bell choir for ringers in grades five and six. Basic bell ringing techniques are taught and this choir participates in worship approximately once each month.

Alleluia Ringers
Director—Sonja Pedersen
Rehearsals—Wednesdays 5:00 – 5:40 p.m., Music Room

The Alleluia Ringers are ringers of intermediate level in grades 7 – 9. This choir focuses on handbell techniques and working as a team to play three to five octave pieces. It’s a great place to meet friends, advance your music skills and discover new ways to be a part of worship.

Peace Ringers

Rehearsals—6:30 – 7:15 p.m., Music Room

This handbell choir is for high school youth in grades 10 – 12. Ringers need at least two to three years of ringing experience or an extensive music background, including playing an instrument in band or orchestra.

Other Music Opportunities

Music and Drama Camp
Coordinator—Marie Williams & Ruth Bachman

For one week in the summer, youth in grades 5-12 come together to rehearse speaking and singing parts for a musical presentation performed at the end of the week. Past performances include “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Once on this Island” and “Guys and Dolls”. Auditions are required for some, but not all, parts in these musicals.

Cafe Concert
Coordinator—Pat Peterson

Once a year youth in grades 5-12 present skits, demonstrations, vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles in a “nightclub” type atmosphere. This event is held in our fellowship hall and offers a fun and festive time for children and adults of all ages.

If you aren’t able to perform, come to experience the many talents of the young people in the St. Andrew community.

Musikgarten

Musikgarten is an innovative music and movement program designed to nurture the vocal, aural (listening), physical and neurological development of the child. Registration is required. Contact Colleen Roess to receive information on schedules, tuition and fees for materials.

Special Music Opportunities
St. Andrew has many ways in which to involve those with special gifts in music. Whether your gift is vocal or instrumental, whether you prefer to be a part of an ensemble or provide solo music, there are many special events and services of worship throughout the year in which there is an opportunity for you to share your gifts and talents.
