In 1987, five St. Andrew people began a job transition networking group as they went through their own
employment transition.
You are invited and welcome to attend any St. Andrew Job Transition Group any Wednesday of the year from
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the St. Andrew Fellowship Hall. Led by Pr. Rod Anderson, you will find the sessions a rapid-action-networking
experience...one that will benefit you through networking with the St. Andrew Church membership database,
the St. Andrew Job Transition Group database accumulated over the past 20 years, others who are in
attendance, and those who have sent openings and information to our group via fax (952-937-2777) or E-mail
(info@standrewlu.org). Bring along a couple of names of companies where you would be interested in networking or
interviewing. Each person leaves the gathering with a name of a company to contact.
Those who find employment during the week bring cookies to share, and coffee is provided. You may also
want to bring along copies of your resume for networking purposes. To date, we have had over 10,500 people attend this group
with an average of +/- 100 attending each week.
It is not possible for St. Andrew staff or Pastor Rod to assist you at times other than
Wednesdays, on the phone, or via e-mail. The task is simply too large and time consuming and we are not
able to provide such assistance other than at the meetings on Wednesdays. Of course, you may do your
networking at any time with others in the group using the roster that will be prepared each week.
This becomes a self-serve, self-help, self-select, self-support experience that happens quite
naturally through networking. You are welcome to remain in the Fellowship Hall at the end of each
session for additional networking with one another.
...IF YOU ARE SEEKING EMPLOYEES OR KNOW OF JOBS/POSITIONS AVAILABLE!
Please fax (952-937-2777) or E-mail (info@standrewlu.org) your information on positions or employment
opportunities of which you are aware or which you have to offer. These will then be circulated every
Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. among those who attend on any given date. Your opportunity will be
kept available and circulated for 3-5 successive weeks. Make sure the information you have provided is
clear and the contact person with whom they should be in communication is indicated. Again, St. Andrew
Church staff and Pastor Rod cannot be available to assist you in this regard by telephone or by e-mail as
the task is simply too large to accomplish. The use of our program is available to all and anyone may
choose to attend with opportunity to give the same 30-second commercial as any other participant, whether
job-seeker or employer.
...IF YOU ARE HOPING TO BEGIN A JOB TRANSITION MINISTRY IN YOUR CHURCH!
The growing need for support ministry and grief processing related to unemployment, and for networking
might best be addressed by Churches, multiplying the number of networking groups that exist. St. Andrew
is happy to help and encourage the initiation of these groups and is most able to assist by virtue of
pastors and lay persons (preferably both) visiting our Job Transition Group and observing. Again, St.
Andrew Church staff and Pastor Rod are not prepared to work individually with groups that are seeking to
initiate new programs, but each congregation might do their own work in this area as they see their own
need. Communication on this matter by phone or e-mail is not possible because of the amount of time
that is available, but visiting the web site and visiting our Job Transition Group may be the most
helpful way of beginning your own networking group. St. Andrew is happy to post location and times of
all Job Transition Networking or Support Groups on our web site. Please send information to
info@standrewlu.org.
