Service MinistrySing to the Lord a new song.    Isaiah 42:10

This fall our ministries at St. Andrew will center on the many ways we are "called to serve" – ... to serve one another in our congregation, to serve others in our community and the larger Twin Cities area, and to people around the world.

Wherever you feel called to serve, St. Andrew has an opportunity for you. Following are the current service needs:

Hope for the Hungry

Feed My Starving Children
Saturday March 3
Shifts from 9:00am to 4pm

St. Andrew is partnering with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) by hosting a MobilePack event. Our goal is to pack 100,000 and to raise $8,000 to fund the food packed at this event.

Volunteer: We invite you to sign up for a two hour shift, on your own, with friends, your family, small group, coworkers, etc. You can sign up either at the information desk at St. Andrew or you can sign up here. Questions contact Melissa Williams at X17 or

Monetary Donations are needed to support these goals, with 500 volunteers needed to pack our 100,000 meals we suggest a $25.00 per person donation. This would cover the cost of the meals as well as a donation toward ending hunger. Even if you cannot come to pack on March 3 you can still make a difference by donating: You can make a donation on our FMSC MobilePack webpage or submit a check made payable to “St. Andrew Lutheran Church and note “Hope for the Hungry” in the memo line.

God's Global Barnyard

An animal can make a world of difference for a family in need. Animals provide food to eat, fertilizer to grow crops and offspring to sell. One gift of an animal can make a difference to solve the problem of hunger in the world. Throughout the Lenten season we will be collecting donations to purchase animals for ELCA World Hunger; God’s Global Barnyard. Our goal of $4,500 would give us a full barn. The cost of animals range from $10 -$500, chicks $10, ducks $20, pigs, $30, goats $50, sheep $125, Alpaca $175, fish $250 and cows $500.

We will encourage our church school children to participate in “A Buck a Chick”: For $1.00 children can purchase and decorate a paper chick. As a little as $1.00 can buy chick a who will begin laying eggs at just a few months, offering nutritious meals for family who are hungry. Beginning the Weekend of Feb. 18 & 19 you will be able to pick up your own barn to collect donations to begin filling our barn with animals. Watch the display our narthex to see our barn grow.
